The Ogle Center at Indiana University Southeast proudly presents Indiana University's Grammy-nominated Singing Hoosiers in a program of classic American songs spanning the Great American Songbook, choral classics, and contemporary arrangements in celebration of the United States Semiquincentennial (America250).
Formed in 1950, the Grammy-nominated Indiana University Singing Hoosiers have built a long and distinguished tradition of excellence in the choral arts. Rooted in the music of The Great American Songbook, their repertoire now spans a wide range of American popular and choral styles. Serving as Indiana University’s ambassadors of song, they have performed throughout the United States and in more than 25 countries across Asia, Australia, Europe, and the Caribbean, and have collaborated with renowned artists and ensembles including Duke Ellington, Mel Torme, Sandi Patty, Sylvia McNair, Tim Noble, the Indianapolis Symphony, and the Cincinnati Pops under Erich Kunzel. Directed by Dr. Chris Albanese, the ensemble includes more than ninety student singers and instrumentalists from the IU Jacobs School of Music and over twenty-five majors across the university, continuing a legacy shaped by past directors George Krueger, Robert Stoll, Michael Schwartzkopf, Steve Zegree, and Ly Wilder.
